- In this video, i overhaul the valvebody from the X6 M series, the valvebody plate had to come from Germany. The shop i rebuilt the transmission for called and said it worked real nice. Thanks for watching, please subscribe, like the video and give thumbs up.
Gary, I love watching your videos because your truly have a thorough understanding of what you're doing. And I believe transmissions are the ultimate 3D puzzles. You helped me a while ago fix my 6L50 transmission on my 07 BMW x3. It was check ball no.1 shrunk and sticking. While my local transmission shops couldn't find the issue you suggested checking the check balls. Low and behold you were dead on. I emailed you and you took the time to respond and help me find the issue. Thank you again for what you do. You're truly helping people. I hope you're doing well in these difficult times. Looks like your exceptionally compitent work is keeping you busy. Take care Gary!
Much appreciation

Hi Gary, Great videos you are one of the only channels that I came across uploading 8HP transmission videos.
I'm hoping you can help with a problem I am having with my transmission(GA8P75HZ) and whether it could be caused by bad valve body or solenoids. My problems started halfway through 250 mile road trip the transmission randomly dropped out of 8th gear at 85mph, quickly reengaged and then dropped again. I pulled over right away and it went to limp mode giving an error 44E247 output speed sensor impermissible deviation and others codes. Once towed home, I tried driving around the block in normal automatic mode and it goes to limp mode pretty quickly, however, if I have it in manual/sport mode (or all electric) I can get up to higher gears although there is some lag and some slipping and hard downshifts. Once the fluid is warmed up it starts acting up and goes in to limp mode pretty quickly. Reverse seems to be working fine. I cleared the codes and now I am getting errors Clutch A, Clutch C, clutches A& C, switching 2 to x, are all implausible 44E247,44d0d1, 44DOF1, 44D131, 44CFF1, 44E4D1. It is 2016 BMW X5 hybrid with 85K miles on the GA8P75HZ. I am wondering if it is worth trying to replace the valve body(~$1.5k) or save money just locate a used transmission(~$4-6k.)
Awesome Gary, greeting from Berlin Germany
gary as always u are THE BEST on YT!
Wow, Thank you Emilio
I always follow your video and watch your presentation
Thank you. You have a transmission shop?
Hi Gary from South Africa thanks once more for a awesome presentation ,I have watched your teardown of this particular transmission, have you recorded the assembly of this transmission looking forward to watch it
Thanks and keep safe
I have not but i think i have assembly of an 8 speed somewhere, i will look to see what i find, thanks for watching, Greetings from New York and stay safe
Good 👍
Yes I have a transmission shop and I also a RUclips channel not quite like yours but I’m doing my thing
Thank You Gary.
Thanks for watching
The 8hp45 and the 8hp70 Here in Jamaica I overall both of them 🇯🇲
I have HP70 coming in tomorrow in a Dodge
Yes I have a transmission shop and I also have a RUclips channel not quite like yours but I’m doing my thing
The name of my channel is constructive tv
@@constructivetv6436 cool, i will check it out
@@GaryFerraro which transmission you fix today
Hi from dubai. Like always best information . Can you suggest how to take care of the transmission for long runs.
The only thing you really can do is service the transmission. For ones without a pan, do a drain and fill once a year, if the transmission has a pan, drop the pan install ne filter and pan gasket refill with new fluid every 20K
I have the ZF8HP70 in my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with over 250,000 miles on it. its time for an overhaul. the shops around here wont even look at it.
Where are you located
@@GaryFerraro Stillwater Oklahoma
Gary Good Morning very nice video Thanks cen you tell us where you get air test plate plz thanks
The guy i build the transmission for got it, it's made by Mopar i believe
Hey Gary,
Have you ever had someone bring you an 845RE with the notorious 2-1 downshift clunk? If so what is your experience with this common issue? There is a TSB from Stellantis stating to simply replace the valve body for this problem but I am sure the valve body can be torn apart and the respective pieces tested and replaced.
Have not had that yet, sometimes i reset the adapts and it goes away. To date, i don't know of any valvebody company working on the 8 speeds yet, i think they are tooling up for them
Good morning yesterday i overhaul the 8hp45 Transmission BMW 520i 2012
Where do you order parts from?
Gary Ferraro I order my parts from Cobra transmission in Florida I would love to get a better deal in buying parts for those transmission
@@constructivetv6436 I purchase from Transtar but i'm not sure they could ship outside u.s Nice teardown on that 8 speed and you didn't even need the drum protectors when taking the snap-ring out, My luck the drum would break lol. How are things in Jamaica with the virus?
Gary Ferraro Thank you very much for watching my videos I learned a lot from you fixing those Bmw transmission.
The virus is very serious here man I’m staying safe we have over 7000 cases and 140 death. But I’m hanging on in there in god we put our trust.Thank again for watching my video I really appreciate it.

Hey Gary I have a 2008 535I BMW N54 engine with a ZF transmission I really need your help. fixmycar referred me to you On a cold start car doesn't wanna go in reverse I have to move it up-and-down a few times for it to go in reverse but when the CAR warms up and it's being driven for about a hour AND more goes into Reverse perfectly fine do you think it could be the shifter is broken. no other issues with car goes into gear perfectly fine just having issues with reverse no lights on the car vehicle has 40,000 miles maintain perfectly just don't know. what do you think thank you for your time.
Would like for you to have the transmission scanned, may be a code that is not turning on the check engine light, also have the fluid level checked. Is this a regular shifter or do you have the E shift where park is a button
Gary would RAM dealers be able to get the parts for you since the 8hp75 transmission is the standard for the 1500 pickups? Great videos thanks
I'm sure they could, not sure how long it would take though
Hello! Love your channel!! I am getting ready to do a solenoid replacement on my six hp26 Transmission in my 2003 Jaguar. I have ordered a set of solenoids and they are brown and blue and black instead of the yellow blue and black in the Box says, 6hp19. Are there any difference in the solenoids from the HP 19 and the six hp26? If not do the brown ones represent the yellow ones thank you very much I hope to hear from you soon.
Hello Carol,
There are no brown solenoids, you may have 3 yellow, 3 blue and one black, the color represents the flow rate, they cannot be mixed up. Any problems, my e-mailis
gsferraro@yahoo.com
Can you do one taking the valves out?
Hey, do you have parts no.s? Looking to replace all the solenoids on my 8hp75hz. Thanks for for a great video sir. Have that common problem with the judder in 6th when it's warm on the 330e.
I do not have the part numbers, i understand those 8HP75 Valvebodies may be a problem, no one really messes with them, are the solenoids the same as in the video? if so i do not think those are sold separately
@@GaryFerraro yes solenoids are exactly the same as in the video.
@@user-od3rl5mc Not so sure they are sold separately, when i tried they were not available
@@GaryFerraro it's mad because there must be hundreds if not thousands of 330s with this problem in Europe and yet BMW or ZF won't admit to it or offer a repair. The only solution offered is a new box, and no goodwill. Not sure if you are seeing a lot of them in the US? The solenoids look similar to the old 6hp but am guessing specs are very different.

I have a 2014 Durango with 277,000 miles has the zf 8hp when it shifts from 1-5 all shudder and 1-2 gears have a whine. Any input is appreciated. Also i just bought it i believe the fluid is original. O and no codes.
wondering if the shudder is the converter, have you changed oil or done anything?
@GaryFerraro nope just fixed enough to pass inspection. Tomorrow I'm doing engine oil cooler 3.6. But weary to touch transmission been learning everything I can. Maybe just fluid change but even that can mess it up. Tomorrow I'll check the color in it at least. Also the shudder only lasts 1-2 seconds.
@ does it feel like a washboard effect or your driving over a rough road?
@@GaryFerraro its a quick non violent shudder.
@ could be converter
I have a question for you. I have a 722.362 transmission that skips second gear, shifts from 1-3,4. If I manually select 2nd gear it acts like a neutral. Been told it’s the b1 piston, would that be the first thing to check?
That what comes on in 2nd, B1 Brake Band, that piston has a very big spring in it, be careful, band may be burned out
Hello Mr Gary I do overholing for transmission zf8hp75 for range rover I charged all seals and clutches and Biston i start the car I shift transmission no pressure in transmission it should make overholing for valve body , the problem for car was mixing water in transmission
May have issues with the solenoids or the TCM itself, does this produce any codes
@@GaryFerraro fault code every time different not same yes maybe solenoids thank you Mr 😊
Hello Mr Gary I open valve body today I clean it I check all things I drive the car now only from 1 shift to 2 shift knock then until to 8 shift all okay
@@fountainblueautorepairing So only 1-2 shift, nothing else? Did you change the plate?
@@GaryFerraro I dont change the plate
And no fault code its should change the plate because mixing water in transmission
Was any problem with this valvebody?
Hi, I just would like to know what's the 8hp 75 valve body plate ZF part number?
That i am not sure, i think i had to get that from Germany
What is your opinion of replacing the ZF dampers with the Sonnax spring kit?
Gary VanRemortel Should be fine. I have used them before
Hello. I have a ga8hp50z that is slipping only under hard acceleration when the wheels start slipping. When driving normal everything is fine. You think it has something to do with valvebody? Recently i replace the gearbox but i use the valvebody from the old box because i couldnt find somebody to code it.
Does it have the same problem?
@@GaryFerraro yes. As soon as the wheel is slipping I get transmission error on idrive and I have to turn off the engine and start again
@@iontz Trans is full of fluid for sure and you have an OE Pan/Filter installed?
@@GaryFerraro took about 9 litres of oil and brand new zf filter
Have the same issue. 2015 Ram 1500 with 8hp70. Transmission slips or acts like in neutral under wide open throttle. Seems to shift ok for the most part under normal acceleration, 60k miles on it. Changed fluid and pan with ZF original, fluid seemed good still, magnets had significant soft deposits and some flakes here or there, no chunks or anything too big.
good, very good video. why would anyone who watches this get a bmw? you have to get parts from germany? bs. that brand is not worth it
They will be available here soon, (i hope)
what symptoms has broken of faulty separate plate???
Never really had any issues like that yet with these transmissions. Searching around to try to find some info on what your issue is. Do you have the start/stop feature in your car?
I have exactly same car and same gearbox which you overhauled. Yes I have ASS but I have disable it. I reckon solenoid clutch A and B can be involved in this issue. What you think??
@@masakielbasa89 Well, there is EDS1, 3,4 and 6 are on in 1st gear, clutch packs A,B and C are on in 1st. Doing a little research on it, going to check TSB's too
