I went and expanded a thing I found - my fave in that vein - that went, "I fight every day to control the evil in me; hurt those I love and I will let it out to play."
"Everyone has evil in their soul. I fight against the evil within me, every day. Sometimes I lose. After all, when you are constantly fighting someone, you get stronger for it, right? Better at fighting. And that goes both ways.
"You do not fight the evil in you. You let it walk all over your soul; you, and it, are fat, and lazy, and weak. With all that in mind, tell me: What do you think will happen if I and my Inner Evil shake hands, and we both make you our target?"

Wait...you've never seen that one? IIRC it's a Stonetoss comic so I can kinda understand why, but I found it from a meme of some kind...

Once again, your completely alien being looks pretty much dying of embarrassment, and even with such a strange anatomy, it's instantly recognizable. Mad props to that.
I'm really glad the Elders recognized what a valuable asset they have in Kalghur. He must be awfully rare for a Baxxid - a Baxxid paladin. He's a zealot for a righteous cause - alliance with humanity - and willing to even fight his own Elders for it. The boy has fire in his belly, and it's pointed in exactly the right direction.
It'd have taken a paladin to actually freak out the Elders like that and still pass the test easily.

He, the Baxxid, and the Yinglets are honestly some of the best alien races I've seen created in a long while. They contrast wonderfully with one another: The Baxxid are truly ancient sophonts that are finding their higher purpose, and the Yinglets are a very young sophont race just searching for their identity. I'm proud to say that the Halavahdon and the Yinglets actually have a lot in common.
valsalia's been a great inspiration.
And that's even before we get into the human characters, and how much, at times, his world reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Viracroix absolutely went to the Havelock Vetinari School of Benevolent Tyranny.

Ssssooo..a friend of mine has a theory that the only 'true' eyes are the small ones in the front, and the other 4 are just tertiary eyes that arent entirely needed.
the front two are always the more derpy expressive ones, and they will even wear veils that cover the other four...but never the front two. . . either that or I missed an anatomy page @.@;

I have my own theory that the eyes are optimised for sensitivity vs resolution. The smaller eyes are highly detailed and color sensitive, but require a lot of light to work and are only good in daylight. The big ones can just about make out enough to see where the cave walls are, but will function by even the very dimmest of bioluminscent light source.
Yes. Beware The Quiet Ones.
Only in this case, Kalgur certainly wasn't quiet. Indeed, he's a very chatty fellow! Just very timid and peaceful.

...Huh. I wonder if the previous Baxxid who reacted like Kalgkur did is the reason why Varakses has a nasty scar on his face and learned to do that "screech" that can stun an enraged Baxxid before anyone gets hurt.
Also, the way Kal always lowers his head between his claws whenever he's feeling nervous/embarrassed is just precious.

Seems unlikely. Anatomically there's not much simularity. The only hint is that Ran, who is exceptionally well-read, recognised whatever-she-is. That suggests that her species is not entirely unknown, but originates somewhere very distant. She's probably the only whatever-she-is in the city.
Hi OOPs followers! I'm here to remind you once again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
It closed out last month at 1170 votes and 45th place. It's currently at 705 votes and 44th place. The highest it's reached is 36th place, and the top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 20,000 votes.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

Kal over there decided violence was the answer. In this case, it was a surprisingly acceptable one, and even laudable. How amusing. At this point we should paint blush on him, since he seems to so readily get embarrassed.
Even better yet, he has the human waiting outside to talk with, and I've no doubt she will enter as subtle as an avalanche while reading them the riot act.
I need to start a petition to get a person transformed into a baxxid. They are so different and so interesting that anyone becoming one would dace quite the shock. That, and there isn't enough baxxid content, I love their design and culture, so this stint is an amazing breath of fresh air. Heck, the transformed could even be a non human race before the sequence. Imagine a baxxid with yinglet quirks. How very dysfunctional.

No, that's most likely shame, not embarrassment. Even though these are compliments, and it seems wholesome, the elders have just called Kalkgur a Horror.
If the leaders of his own kind are calling him a Horror even by their standards, what will the Humans think of him when the entire Baxxid race has to carefully manicure themselves to not be seen as monsters by everyone else? What does Nell think of him? He's been riddled with guilt and shame since he killed the thief, and this is most definitely not helping him.

Man was willing to go to war for peace. And even though his actions embarrassed the absolute hell out of himself, his Elders are proud of his decision. (Maybe a bit frightened, but still proud!)
It's clear that not only did he pass, he didn't even need a pole to vault that bar. That's a jump that would make both Mario and Sonic proud.

This has been quite the little story. I don't think I can say much different than I have in the past. But gosh darn it, past me was right with his shot-in-the-dark assumption.
So it's said:
I wanna see Kal in a Captain America cosplay.
Seriously. He's kind, dutiful, honest, willing to defend others, willing to stand up for his own beliefs....
And kinda fucks up sometimes (with some fatal results). But it's with really good intentions.
I could picture Kal facing off with Thanos' army being willing to give it a go, knowing he'd lose.
I wonder if Kal could life Thor's hammer with his mouth or tail.
